You don’t lose weight to get healthy; you get healthy to lose weight.

No one diet is a perfect match for everyone. In fact, when you embark on a journey to lose weight, you should look at it as a lifestyle change, not a “diet”. Diet implies a change of eating habits for whatever time is necessary to lose weight. Then, after returning to old habits, the weight returns. But as the title here states, it is about getting healthy first, weight loss is the added bonus.

Often an individual will attempt weight loss by drastically limiting calories and skipping meals. What people don’t realize is this approach will actually slow your metabolism down. Add cardio exercises and you can end out burning muscle tissue for fuel. Different foods can also have different metabolic affects on our body. What causes weight gain in one person can actually create weight loss in another. But weight isn’t the only issue; it is simply the most obvious one. Not eating properly can lead to depression, fatigue, illness, and many other problems.

If you want something to change, you have to be willing to make changes. You have to be ready to change out old dietary and lifestyle habits and work at instituting new thoughts and habits. After all, it is those very habits that have gotten you where you are today. If you don’t change anything, you’ll only get more of what you’ve already got.

Weight loss can be influenced by many different factors - Hormones, stress (or emotional issues), digestive issues, proper nutrition and lifestyle habits in general – sleep pattern, medications, smoking, etc. Losing weight (and gaining health) is a journey and the program required for the loss is as individualized as you are.

Take the first step by learning what foods fuel your energy and assist your body in re-regulating your metabolic rate. Take this first step, not only to lose weight, but to gain a better, healthy lifestyle. The program includes a list of foods that are applicable to your specific metabolic type, a sample menu, recipes and more.
